Below is a term project from the Fall 2022 edition of the course! It should give you ideas about what past students learned from the course.
Hina Grin (Hina Green of Slytherin)
My experience with Parseltongue class is truly eighth! I loved every single lesson and I have to admit that you are my favorite professor!
I'm sure Parseltongue skills will help me a lot in creating a very strong bond with my snake, which I already do. It helped me open my mind and study languages better, which I'm really not good at! To speak the language that the founder of my house spoke is an honor for me! Snakes are also my favorite animals by the way, and it's a shame they are despised by so many people.
I still remember a few months ago when I just introduced myself in Parseltongue with a baby snake, and it warned me moments later to a spell that was about to fall upon me! I still haven't figured out where it came from.
The "crypticity" of this wonderful language is also really fascinating! I suppose it's because snakes are very intuitive animals.
I still remember when I vented about my personal problems with my sweet snake, it cuddled me wrapping Itself around my arm while I stroked its scales.
Lately the fantastic idea of becoming an Animagus has also crossed my mind, I would like my form to be a snake, but if I'm being realistic, I just hope it's an animal with which they agree.
I'm also looking for various spells to best heat my snake's house, it asked me the other day "Tasi bana vuʃ?" And honestly, I didn't know how to answer him since I had just cast a heating spell.
I admit that I would have liked to learn basic things like greeting or thanking, basically I don't know how to introduce myself in Parseltongue, and I haven't found anything either in the lessons or in the vocabulary, alas in fact I do it with a literal translation.
Parseltongue however, has become the "coded" language between me and Sora Matou, a housemate, and it's wonderful to talk without anyone else understanding!
