Due Date: 11:59pm HOL Time - June 15, 2024
Please send all assignments to [email protected] with the subject "Parseltongue - Term Project - HOL Name" and include your HOL Name and House (in English or Parseltongue) in the body of the email.
You have two options for the term project, depending on how comfortable you are in expressing yourself in Parseltongue. Choose ONE option to earn up to 30 points!
Option 1 - Standard (30 points)
Write at least 300 words about anything related to the topic of this class. This essay should be primarily in English, but you can feel free to use Parseltongue words as appropriate (which do count towards the 300).
Option 2 - More Parseltongue! (15 points per part, for 30 points total)
Part 1: Write at least 150 words about anything related to the topic of this class. This essay should be primarily in English, but you can feel free to use Parseltongue words as appropriate (which do count towards the 150).
Part 2: Write at least 50 words about anything you want... in Parseltongue.
(NOTE: If you choose this option, your Parseltongue grammar does NOT need to be perfect to get full marks!)
A few suggestions on topics to write about:
-Spellcasting in Parseltongue (e.g. which spells work best with Parseltongue incantations?)
-Does your knowledge of the language of snakes help you understand snakes better?
-How Parseltongue compares to other languages you may already know
-Loanwords from English to Parseltongue... or maybe vice versa
-Parseltongue words you may have seen Parselmouths use when speaking human languages
A few more suggestions from my predecessor on topics to write about:
-How learning Parseltongue will be useful in your daily life.
-A creative new way to learn words from the snakes.
-Why Parseltongue relies so heavily on 'reading between the lines.'
-A story about a class snake that helped you study.
-More word discoveries.
